What is Quality Care of Howell?

Quality Care of Howell is an assisted living facility licensed as an Adult Foster Care through the State of Michigan.


Does Quality Care of Howell accept the Medicaid Waiver program for government financial assistance with the monthly rent?

No, we are only private pay. Area Agency on Aging 1-B is not taking any new communities at the present time. We’ll continue trying to add Quality Care of Howell to their registered vendor list, so senior citizens who qualify for the Medicaid Waiver program are able to live here in our community.


What are the qualifications of employees of Quality Care of Howell?

Employees of Quality Care of Howell have had:

  • a background check,

  • physical,

  • TB test,

  • drug test,

  • first aid/CPR training,

  • food handling and nutrition training,

  • bloodborne pathogens and communicable disease training,

  • fire and severe weather emergency training,

  • personal care, supervision and protection training,

  • medication administration training,

  • reporting requirements training, and

  • confidentiality training.


What are the staffing ratios at Quality Care of Howell?

Our staffing ratios are variable. They abide to State regulations and to the specific needs of the residents in our community according to their outlined care plans.


What type of clients does Quality Care of Howell care for?

All senior citizens ages 55 years of age and older who are able to move about with the assistance of one caregiver.


Does Quality Care of Howell care for senior citizens with dementia?

Yes, the assisted living area of Quality Care of Howell does accept senior citizens with early stages of memory care. Further, Quality Care of Howell does have a locked area for senior citizens requiring complete memory care.


What is dementia?

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, “Dementia is an overall term for diseases and conditions characterized by a decline in memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking skills that affect a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. Memory loss is an example. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia.”


Does Quality Care of Howell offer skilled nursing or rehabilitation?

No, Quality Care of Howell is non-medical and only assists senior citizens with their activities of daily living (ADL), such as but not limited to:

  • transferring,

  • grooming,

  • toileting,

  • incontinence management,

  • showering,

  • clothing selection,

  • personal hygiene,

  • medication administration,

  • prepared meals and housekeeping.

If a senior citizen is in need of skilled nursing or rehabilitation services, it can be offered through a preferred home care and hospice company. Quality Care of Howell is happy to make a recommendation or you can use one of your own choice.


Does Quality Care of Howell have a doctor?

No, we do not. It’s the choice of the senior citizen which doctor they would like to use as their primary care physician. However, we do have a preferred doctor who specializes in geriatrics and does rounds routinely in our community.

Does Quality Care of Howell have certain visiting hours?

Our visiting hours are open. We encourage family and friends to come as often as possible to visit. However, the outer front doors are locked at 9 PM each night. If for some reason you are coming later than 9 PM to visit, please let us know and we will unlock the doors for you to visit.


Do senior citizens have to sign a long-term lease upon moving into Quality Care of Howell?

No, our lease agreements are month-to-month. We do require a 30 day written notice to move out of our community.
